The most common cooling fans can be divided into two types
1. Axial fan
The vanes push the air to flow in the same direction as the shaft.
The impeller is somewhat similar to the propeller. When it is working, most of the airflow is parallel to the shaft.
When the inlet airflow is free air with 0 static pressure, its power consumption is the lowest, and the power consumption will increase with the increase of airflow back pressure during operation.
It is usually installed on the cabinet of electrical equipment, and sometimes integrated on the motor. Due to the compact structure of the axial flow fan, it can save a lot of space and is easy to install, so it is widely used.
Features: High flow rate, moderate wind pressure
2. Centrifugal fan
When working, the blades push the air to flow in a direction perpendicular to the shaft (ie radial direction), the intake air is along the axis direction, and the air outlet is perpendicular to the axis direction.
In most cases, the cooling effect can be achieved by using an axial fan. However, sometimes a centrifugal fan must be used if the airflow needs to be rotated by 90 degrees or when a large air pressure is required.
Features: limited flow rate, high wind pressure
